Christine Bump (1952-2009)
I'd like to tell you about my friend Christine. She was a terrific artist! She loved to garden, and
canned what she grew. She did terrific cross-stitch designs, stained glass creations and she loved to
cook...at least Brett, her friend and husband of 33 years, tells me she could cook really well! She loved
to quilt and to design quilts. If she could have finished all the designs she had sketched out, she would
have lived to be a million. Sadly for us, that wasn't to be. Christine passed away in her sleep on the
morning of October 12. 2009. She had not been ill, and she didn't suffer pain...God just needed her for
some reason, and took her home. We miss her so very much.
If you have ordered patterns and wondered why the delay, we would like to explain. Christine WAS
"Quilts and Stitches" ... she designed, quilted, made the patterns, printed the patterns, packaged the
patterns, and mailed the patterns. She did everything herself. So, 'business as usual' has not been
possible. Brett encouraged her with her business and supported her ideas etc., but he is not a quilter
nor does his work allow him any time to devote to "Quilts and Stitches". Brett, her friend Marge, and my
family all want to see her designs continued, so we are trying to pick up the pieces and go on. We are
sorry for the delays. We will be doing our best to carry on for our friend. Thank you for your
understanding and kind patronage. (In going through Chris' things, we have found many kind notes about
her designs from many of you... Thank-you! I know those little notes meant a great deal to her.)
Her friend.

Enjoy browsing through my patterns. I am inspired by everything around me and always have more ideas
than time. Coming from an Art background I love to design wall hangings that I would have painted in the
past. My challenge is always to simplify the details enough in my drawings for applique. Most all my
patterns are iron-on appliqued, a method where I can be more detailed and get the project done so I can get
on to my next twenty ideas. I have always loved to create things with fabric combining it with the Artistic
designs has helped me to find my niche. ENJOY!
